What is Rhinoplasty -Nose Job?
Rhinoplasty, also known as “nose job”, which is one of the most preferred aesthetic surgery operations in our country and all over the world, is a surgical operation to create a new nose form by shaping the cartilage, bone and soft tissues of the nose in a planned manner. Rhinoplasty is also called “nose job” or “nose surgery”. The main purpose of rhinoplasty is to have a nose that is in harmony with the facial features, as well as not to move away from naturalness. In this respect, rhinoplasty, which requires a lot of expertise, should be performed by experts in the field.
Under the supervision of Doctor Nuri, more than 7,000 successful nose surgeries have been performed within Soyep so far.
Why is Rhinoplasty done?
There are many reasons for patients to have nose surgery. The patient may need aesthetic correction regarding his nose. The patient may also need reconstructive surgery due to an accident, impact or bad surgery.
The reasons why patients want to have nose surgery may be as follows:
- The patient’s nose is too large in proportion to the face
- Having drooping at the tip of the nose
- Nose too wide to the sides
- Having an arched nose
- Too wide nostrils
- If there is a thickness or disproportion in the root of the nose
- If there is a sideways curvature in the nose
- If the tip of the nose is too thick
- Having an asymmetrical disorder in the nose due to any accident or impact
- After a bad surgery
- If there is a nasal congestion such as deviation or nasal concha that makes it difficult to breathe
In such cases, reduction of the size of the nose, removal of the nasal hump, correction of the curvature of the nose, shaping the nasal tip, correction of the angle between the upper lip and the nose, reduction of the nostrils, removal of the nasal concha and correction of the curvatures in the middle part of the nose (septum deviation) can be done.
Who are the Rhinoplasty Candidates?
As Soyep, we perform nose corrections or aesthetic nose surgeries after the age of 18 in men and 17 in women, when the growth of the nose and the settling of the bone structure is 90% complete. We perform surgeries considering the patient’s health status.
Preoperative Examination
Patient candidates who are considering rhinoplasty – nose job should first seek the opinion of a specialist plastic surgeon. As Soyep, we observe the following issues regarding the patient during the examination:
- The realism of the patient’s expectations about the surgery
- The patient’s mental health
- The patient’s medical history and diseases, if any
- If the patient has allergies
- Medicines used by the patient
- The patient’s use of cigarettes, alcohol, or drugs, if any
As a result of the examination, our doctors decide whether the patient needs surgery after diagnosing these issues and, if necessary, what kind of operation will be performed.
Operational Information
The method to be applied in nose surgery is decided by our plastic surgeon in line with the patient’s wishes and expectations. Thanks to a special computer program, our surgeon models the shape of the nose after the operation and shows it to the patient to have an idea. It is important that this modeling is not taken as a promise by the patient.
Our surgeon decides to perform closed or open nose surgery, taking into account the patient’s wishes and expectations.
Nose surgery is usually performed by applying general anesthesia to the patient.
Closed nose surgery is performed by making an incision through the patient’s nostrils and working from this area. The advantage of closed nose surgery is injury-free and the patient’s recovery process is easier.
In open nose surgery, our surgeon works by making an incision through the nostrils and the columella, the part that separates the holes at the tip of the nose. This technique allows for more changes in the nose as it gives the surgeon more work space and flexibility.
As Soyep, our specialty is woundless, closed nose surgeries.
Post-Operation
After the rhinoplasty, the healing process begins with the first observation of the doctor. The first night is spent in the hospital under the supervision of a doctor. Then, with the doctor’s approval, the patient is discharged for home rest. On the first day, you need to raise your head slightly, rest and move less. In this way, your swelling will decrease. It is also normal to experience light bleeding and congestion.
If there are results such as bruising and swelling (usually not much), these will be greatly reduced within 10 days.
From the 4th week, the patient can often return to his old routine and exercise. The numbness usually goes away, but it can take several months to go away completely. The patient should pay attention to protection from direct sun for a few months after the surgery to protect the skin.
