What is Abdominoplasty?

Abdominoplasty, or more commonly tummy tuck surgery, is a plastic surgery operation in which sagging, cracks and fat deposition in the abdominal region are removed due to various reasons.

Why is Abdominoplasty Done?

After pregnancy and weight loss, sagging may occur in the abdominal region of women. Cesarean section delivery also affects this region. In cases of serious weight loss, sagging skin, skin cracks and unrecoverable fat deposition, especially in the abdominal region, occur. Aging and body structure also cause sagging and cracks in this area.

With abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery, excess skin and fat are removed from the abdomen and connective tissues are tied. In this way, the abdominal region remains more tense and healthy.

Abdominoplasty can be performed only in the lower abdomen. When applied to this area, it can also eliminate the cracks in the area.

It can also be applied together with the liposuction operation, because excess fat cells are removed in the liposuction operation, but not excess skin is removed. Along with abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery, excess skin is removed simultaneously with liposuction.

When abdominoplasty surgery is performed in women who have had a cesarean delivery, the cesarean section wound can be hidden inside the abdominoplasty wound.

The unaesthetic appearance of skin sagging, fat deposition and cracks caused by reasons such as rapid weight loss, pregnancy, cesarean delivery, aging causes a lack of self-confidence and psychological problems in individuals. Thanks to abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery, individuals have an increase in self-confidence and abdominoplasty helps individuals to overcome their psychological problems.

Who Are Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) Candidates?

  • Women with post-pregnancy abdominal fat and sagging skin
  • Individuals with sagging in the abdomen in individuals with rapid weight gain and loss
  • Individuals with skin cracks in the lower abdomen due to weight loss
  • Women who have had a cesarean delivery
  • Individuals with sagging in the abdomen with aging
  • Individuals with sagging, cracks and fat in the abdomen due to their natural body structure

  • The patient candidate should quit smoking, alcohol and blood thinners such as aspirin before the operation.

Information About Aesthetic Operation

Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery is divided into two as mini abdominoplasty and full abdominoplasty. While full abdominoplasty is applied to the lower abdomen and upper abdomen, mini abdominoplasty is applied only to the lower abdomen.

During abdominoplasty surgery, horizontal incisions are made between the upper groin and the belly button. Excess fat and skin in this area are removed. The abdominal muscles emerging under the skin are stitched towards the middle and a harder abdominal wall is obtained. The abdominal skin is then pulled down and stretched. The belly button is also fixed in its new place.

While the location of the navel does not change in mini abdominoplasty operations, the navel does not change in full abdominoplasty.

After the Operation

A scar remains after abdominoplasty surgery. However, these scars are hidden in the belly folds in the bikini area. In addition, these traces gradually decrease and become obscure within 1 year.

There is pain and swelling for a few days after the surgery, it is recommended to take painkillers. Stitches are removed after 1 week.

A special corset, called the abdominal binder, is worn that wraps around the abdomen for about 6 weeks. Limited movement should be done for 6 weeks, heavy exercise should not be done.

After abdominoplasty surgery, a tight and aesthetic abdominal appearance is achieved.
